 CITY OF VANCOUVER TRADE AND CONVENTION CENTRE

Vancouver Convention Centre Vancouver, Canada

- This is a major convention and trade show facility located at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver and site of the 1986 Expo Canadian Government pavilion for that event.

Responsibilities

Assignment A:

  • Development of the business terms of a number of leases for a range of services to be contracted to the convention centre. This included the major food services component
  • Development of bidders packages for each of the services to be contracted, for prospective bidders
  • Development of the Request for Proposal for each service
  • Development of an evaluation matrix by which competitive bids were analysed and compared
  • Analysis and evaluation of all bidders for all services
  • Recommendations for short list panel interview and contractor selection
  • Participant in short list panel interviews and successful bidders selection decision-making

Assignment B:

  • Review of labour cost sharing between food and beverage contractor and convention centre, for non food and beverage labour use by contractor
  • Development of recommendations for equitable arrangements between the parties

 CITY OF VICTORIA CONFERENCE CENTRE

Victoria Conference Centre Victoria, British Columbia

- The City owns a downtown located conference centre adjacent the community's major year round convention hotel

Responsibilities

Assignment A:

  • Similar to Assignment A for the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, with the exception of the Food and Beverage contract which had already been negotiated with the major on-site hotel

Assignment B:

  • Interim general manager for the year prior to opening
  • Reporting to the City Manager of the City of Victoria
  • Refinement, finalisation and implementation of the Centre's year one marketing priorities, the latter through the Centre's previously appointed marketing manager
  • Development of the terms of reference for an Executive Search for a full time general manager for the Centre
  • Development of an evaluation matrix by which candidates suitability was assessed
  • Preliminary interview and analysis of prospective general managers
  • Preparation of a short list of preferred candidates for panel interview and selection
  • Participant in panel interview and selection of successful candidate
