Responsibilities (in conjunction with the ARA Consulting Group)

• Site visits to and photos of more than 200 eligible small hotels (75 rooms/units or less) in participating countries, to assess the needs of the region's small hotel sector
  
• Development, administration and analysis of a comprehensive questionnaire to eligible small hotels for sector status and needs assessment purposes
  
• Development of priority needs for the sector: marketing, operations, financial
  
• Development of strategies for the long term economic sustainability of the region's small hotel sector
  
• Development of "standards" and "brands" compatible with the sector's marketable strengths and future prospects
  
• Organisation of and participation in a number of workshops related to the assignment
  

SMALL HOTELS REVITALISATION STRATEGY

Grenada, West Indies

- Sponsored by the Caribbean Development Bank, this was designed to augment the OAS project, with specific application to the Grenada small hotels' situation

Responsibilities (in conjunction with the ARA Consulting Group)

Assignment A:

• Similar to the OAS assignment above but with specific orientation to small hotels of no more than 30 rooms or units
  
• Detailed physical inspections of all eligible small hotels: exterior architecture and building fabric, environmental and safety matters, interior décor and furnishings, mechanical and electrical plant
  
• Analysis of capital upgrades needs and likely costs
  
• Preparation of revitalisation strategy for long term economic sustainability of Grenada's small hotel sector
  

Assignment B:

• Analysis of a number of key performance criteria at small hotels deeply indebted to the Grenada Development Bank: operations/management, marketing, financial
  
• Development of a 'work out' strategy for each
  
• Recommendations on alternative ownership and management, financing, marketing and business strategy for long term financial sustainability
